Clifton High School
vs
East Orange Campus High
at Paul Robeson Stadium, East Orange, NJ
11/17/12
This game was not
on the schedule and is called a "consolation round."
When someone explains it to me, I'll try to explain it to you. I
think it's to prevent sore losers in high school football, but I
could be mistaken.
As soon as
everyone is in uniform, instead of having the usual practice at
Rowley Park, everyone goes out to the amphitheater to pose for a
band portrait. They are hoping to be chosen to represent East
Orange in the Presidential Inaugural Parade in Washington, DC on
January 21, 2013, and they need a portrait to send in with their
application.
It is 3:40 PM
when the Band marches out on the field to perform their half-time
show. The Clifton team is lined up behind them, ready to resume
the game when the Band finishes. See the video below:
One member of the
Clifton team is of special interest to us. It is Elijah Goode,
son of our Band Director Mr. Frederick Goode, and a frequent
contributor of photography and videography to this Band Parent
web site. Formerly, he played in our Band on the clarinet, and
played tuba in the Clifton band. Now he is a member of the
Clifton football team. Remember his number, 75, and in coming
years we may get to see him in action on the football field.
The sun has set
by the time the Band marches back to Cicely Tyson High School.
There is only one football game left to play this year and it
will be at Barringer High School on Thanksgiving Day.
Final Score: East Orange
Campus High 40 - Clifton High School 0
