The band rushes back from the Parade in Orange and the drumline begins painting their faces for the
Seton Hall Prep football game held in West Orange.
The face painting continues as
they get on the bus, assisted by drum instructor Rasheem
Franklin. This is in recognition of Halloween, and has nothing to
do with the teams.
Faces painted and ready for
action, the students now travel on the bus to Seton Hall
Preparatory School in West Orange, NJ for the football game.
The drumline reassembles on
Northfield Avenue in front of Seton Hall Prep, as they await the
rest of the band, which is following in a second bus.
When the entire band is in formation, they begin
to march up the hill towards the back entrance that leads
directly to the football stadium behind the school, following
their drum major, Bria Douglas (far right).
As always, the face-painted
drumline follows behind the instrumental section, providing the
beat that carries to their feet and keeps them all together as a
marching band. Mr. Rasheem Franklin watches his drumline closely
at the far left of the photo.
After a quick restroom break, the
band reforms and marches onto the Seton Hall Prep's Verducci
field.
The band assembles in the
visitor's bleachers and gets ready to play during the game. They
only perform between football plays and during time-outs for this
game.
The above Youtube
Video shows some of the full band performances during the
game.
Here is something we haven't seen before;
performances by just the drumline of the Cicely Tyson Marching
Band. Imagine these young drummers going head to head in drum
battles with local bands!
The above YouTube
Video shows just the CTS drumline in action.
The student that leads with his sticks is Drum Section Leader
David Friday.
The next, and final,
football game of the season will be at Paul Robeson Stadium in
East Orange on Thanksgiving Day. See you there!
