Independence Day Celebration
at Paul Robeson Stadium
There has been a lot of
excitement today. Hurricane Arthur moved north along the Jersey
coast, bringing rain for most of the day, but the skies cleared
up and the sun came out about 5:00 PM. The Band began gathering
at their headquarters in Cicely Tyson School around 4:00 PM, and
got ready to begin the march across town to Paul Robeson Stadium
where they will perform live for the anticipated crowds of East
Mayor Lester Taylor and his wife
are enjoying the show and the Independence Day Celebration paid
for by the taxpayers of East Orange.

The final perfomance of the
2013-2014 East Orange Unified Marching Band
Today marks the last performance for this group of East
Orange Unified Marching Band students. But as one Band ends, the
next one begins. Band Parent Ms Drake passes out applications for
the 2014 Summer Band Camp that starts at the end of this month.
Then a new Band will begin forming all over again, with many of
the old band members, but also some brand new ones, a new drum
major, new section leaders, and so on. Any parents who see the
value of joining this unique marching band can register their
children for 2014 Summer Band Camp as the possible start of a new
career, a college journey, a life filled with memories and music.
